My host for the evening: He's been friends with my dad for twenty years, so I basically grew up knowing him. He and his wonderful wife made me dinner, showed me around town, and gave me a place to crash. And pancakes and bacon to fuel me for the drive across most of the rest of the state! |

This is at the Veterans' Memorial Park in Sioux Falls. This statue was commissioned by a family who lost their son in Afghanistan. It was a really touching story. |
Next stop: The Black Hills in western South Dakota.
